Synopsis

In the labyrinthine corridors of The Museum of Desire, renowned forensic psychiatrist Alex Delaware and LAPD homicide detective Milo Sturgis find themselves drawn into a twisted web of obsession, murder, and the darkest recesses of the human psyche. Enter Dr. Amy Lazarus, a brilliant but enigmatic psychiatrist whose life spirals into chaos after her patient is brutally murdered. As Alex and Milo delve into the investigation, they uncover a complex tapestry of relationships, secrets, and forbidden desires that intertwine with Amy's own troubled past.

Through a series of gripping psychological autopsies, Alex unravels the motives and inner workings of the killer, whose modus operandi reveals a profound understanding of human nature and the twisted paths of desire. As the body count rises, Alex and Milo must confront their own demons while navigating the dangerous terrain of the mind, where nothing is as it seems and the pursuit of justice becomes a perilous journey into the abyss.

Review

Jonathan Kellerman's The Museum of Desire is a masterclass in psychological suspense. With his trademark blend of forensic precision and psychological insight, Kellerman weaves a gripping narrative that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat from beginning to end.

The characters are complex and well-developed, each driven by their own unique desires and obsessions. Alex Delaware is a brilliant and compassionate forensic psychiatrist, whose empathy for victims and relentless pursuit of justice make him a compelling protagonist. LAPD homicide detective Milo Sturgis provides the perfect counterbalance to Alex, with his gruff exterior and pragmatic approach to crime solving.

The plot is intricate and suspenseful, with unexpected twists and turns that keep the reader guessing until the very end. Kellerman's writing is both evocative and thought-provoking, exploring the dark recesses of the human psyche and the complex interplay between desire, obsession, and violence.

The Museum of Desire is a must-read for fans of psychological suspense and crime fiction. It is a gripping, thought-provoking, and ultimately satisfying novel that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.
