In 1953, Brown is arrested for robbery and sent to prison. While in prison, he meets Bobby Byrd (Nelsan Ellis),who becomes his musical mentor. Brown and Byrd form a singing group, The Famous Flames, and they begin to release records.

In 1958, Brown releases the song "Try Me," which becomes a hit. The song is followed by a string of other hits, including "I Got You (I Feel Good)," "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag," and "Say It Loud - I'm Black and I'm Proud." Brown becomes one of the most popular singers in America, and he is known for his energetic performances and his distinctive style of music.

However, Brown's success also comes with a price. He is often accused of being too controversial, and he is frequently in trouble with the law. In 1968, Brown is arrested for possession of drugs and weapons. He is sentenced to five years in prison, but he is released after serving two years.

After his release from prison, Brown continues to perform and record music. However, he is never able to regain the same level of success that he had in the 1960s. In 2006, Brown dies of congestive heart failure at the age of 73.

Brown is a complex and controversial figure. He was a brilliant musician and performer, but he was also a troubled man. The film Brown does a good job of capturing both the highs and lows of Brown's life. Chadwick Boseman gives an excellent performance as Brown, and the film is directed with a sure hand by Ryan Reynolds.

Brown is a must-see for fans of music and American history. It is a powerful and moving film that tells the story of one of the most important figures in American culture.
