In the midst of the horrors of the Holocaust, a young Jewish girl named Inge Auerbacher survived against all odds. After witnessing the death of her family and suffering unimaginable hardships, she escaped to war-torn China, where she found hope and a new life.

Inge was born in Kippenheim, Germany, in 1934. Her father was a merchant and her mother was a homemaker. The family lived a comfortable life until the Nazis came to power in 1933. Inge's father was arrested and sent to a concentration camp, and her mother was forced to sell their business. The family was eventually forced to move into a ghetto.

In 1942, Inge and her mother were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Inge's mother was murdered upon arrival, but Inge was spared because she was young and healthy. She was forced to work in the camp, where she witnessed the horrors of Nazi brutality firsthand.

In 1945, as the war drew to a close, Inge was liberated by the Soviet Army. She was one of only a few children who survived Auschwitz. After the war, Inge was sent to a displaced persons camp in Germany. She was eventually reunited with her father, who had also survived the Holocaust.

In 1949, Inge and her father emigrated to the United States. They settled in New York City, where Inge attended school and went on to become a successful businesswoman. She married and had two children.

In 1988, Inge published her memoir, I Am a Star: Child of the Holocaust. The book has been translated into 15 languages and has become a bestseller. Inge has also spoken out about her experiences at schools and universities around the world.

Inge's story is a testament to the power of hope and resilience. She has overcome unimaginable adversity to live a long and fulfilling life. Her story is an inspiration to us all.
