I was born deaf in a hearing world. From the moment I was born, I was different. I couldn't hear the cries of the other babies in the nursery. I couldn't hear my parents' voices when they talked to me. I couldn't hear the birds singing outside my window.

Growing up, I was often bullied and isolated. Kids called me names like "dummy" and "retard." They would make fun of my sign language and my hearing aids. They would pretend to talk to me, but they would never actually say anything. I felt like an outsider, like I didn't belong.

But I also had a lot of support from my family and friends. My parents taught me sign language and helped me to develop my speech. My friends always included me in their games, even though I couldn't hear them. They helped me to feel like I was just as good as everyone else, even though I was different.

As I got older, I started to find my own voice. I started to write poetry and short stories about my experiences as a deaf person. I started to speak out against bullying and discrimination. I wanted to show the world that deaf people are just as capable as hearing people, and that we deserve to be treated with respect.

I'm now an adult, and I'm proud of who I am. I'm deaf, and I'm not going to let that stop me from achieving my dreams. I'm going to keep writing, speaking out, and making a difference in the world.

No more laughing at the deaf boy. I'm here, I'm deaf, and I'm proud.

Here are some of the things I've learned from growing up deaf:

  • Deaf people are just as capable as hearing people. We may not be able to hear, but we can still learn, communicate, and achieve our goals.
  • Bullying is never okay. No one deserves to be bullied, regardless of their disability.
  • It's important to find your own voice. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something because you're deaf.
  • You are not alone. There are millions of deaf people around the world. We are a strong and proud community.

If you are deaf or know someone who is, please remember that you are not alone. There are people who care about you and want to help you succeed. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something because you're deaf. You can do anything you set your mind to.
